My Fellow colleagues💗, Tired of me yet? LOL. No worries because we are almost at the end of this course. In the meantime, let me remind us of our session this week. The Writing traits (cont'd). Mrs Lazarus spent a significant amount of time on this topic, did she not? As if she was reading our minds, she explained her reason why. We are presently critiquing a child's piece and we will need to be familiar with the writing traits in order to ace that piece. check out this poster, there are many more similar ones on the internet that we can use in our classrooms. In addition to the writing traits, I loved the idea of Mrs. Lazarus having a class discussion/ critique of a sample. Then we paired with our assignment partner to discuss another one. I must say I embraced this activity because my partner and I were able to share many ideas together. What I liked most about this, is that my partner could have pointed out some strengths or weaknesses from the passage that I could...

Dear colleagues , 👩👩👩 Happy Saturday to you all, and welcome once more as I blog on the past week of LIT 102. Persuasive writing ( cont'd). In my observations, I noticed how Mrs. Lazarus questioned us to obtain our prerequisites before placing us in groups based on our topics. As she rightfully said, she had other topics planned for this session but saw the need to focus on Persuasive Writing. Have any of you ever had to make a judgment call like this before? I have, and I did not because as a young teacher, I was always afraid of what Ministry officials were going to say. Thankfully, I know better now and can make the right decisions as it relates to my students. we got the opportunity to work with our pairs in small groups based on our topic. Luckily my group was just the two of us, unlike others that had six and seven members. I embraced the opportunity and was able to get adequate assistance from my colleague who seems to be very knowledgeable in that area. Having be...

H ello Family😍, Journey with me as I take us back to snippets of this week. I am filled with information because we did quite a lot, did we not? From Lesson Plans, to critiquing pieces to Persuasive writing. Although we did a lot, I want to remind you both about Persuasive writing . I chose Persuasive because we are about to write our piece to add to our portfolios. One may ask, '' what is Persuasive writing?'' In a nutshell, It is writing used to convince people. Now in convincing people, we were reminded of techniques we can use to do so. For example, appealing to ones's emotions. Ladies, are we not masters in that area? especially when it comes to our relationships? hmmmm. When writing Persuasive, we must write with a purpose . Why do we want to convince? I remember writing persuasive pieces in school. Can you remember what it was like writing for you? As for me, I struggled in building my points, especially my supporting details. sometimes I wish I co...

Hello Friends 👋, Happy Sunday, and welcome once again to another blogging. Today, I have decided to update you on this week's content taught. Looking back, I can recall presentations being done, and also sharing of our Narrative pieces. Although the presentations were good, I want to ZOOM in on the sharing of our writing. As we can recall, I was tasked with The Author's chair last week. However, even though I did not get the opportunity to share again, many of our colleagues did. I was amazed of all the different ways and styles our colleagues used in writing their pieces. What I really liked was the way Mrs. Lazarus allowed them to choose whichever part of the story they wanted to read. Personally, I learned a lot that day because I have so many different options to use in my future writing. Think outside of the box, is what came to my mind. My curiosity level built as well because I really wanted to find out how the...

Hello Family, 💗 Welcome to another week of Blogging. As you realized, our lecturer continued with Narrative writing and we were given the opportunity to sit with a colleague that we were comfortable with to share and also critique each others Narrative piece. How did you all feel about that? As for me, I was a bit uncomfortable at first because I was not sure how my fellow colleague will react to my critiques. Turned out well as you guys can see because I am still here in one piece to blog. 😂 LOL.... As we are on Narrative writing, I want to ZOOM in on a particular aspect of this weeks session. The Author's chair. Mrs. Laz gave me the opportunity to read my piece. I must say that I am grateful for that opportunity because if I did not get it, I would have remained with my story thinking I will obtain a high score. Long story short, I was amazed of the strategy used to critique my story. I believe as teachers, we have to be mindful of our learners feelings. ...

Hello Colleagues, I could not have waited to blog this week because today's Lit 102 session is still quite vivid in my head like fresh squeezed orange juice. Narrative Writing. From today's session, I must say I am full. To be honest, I never really liked Narrative Writing as a student, and I believe I did not like it for the same reason I did not like Mathematics, the teacher.....sigh😔Why could I not have had Mrs. Lazarus teaching me back then? Or if not her, then her twin sister? LOL😆😀 Honestly, I was NOT in the mood for class today, just wanted to hand in the assignment and go home. Now, I have no regrets of having stayed. Let us walk through today's session again. From what I gathered, The Writing Workshop is one of the most common yet effective teaching strategies that can be used to generate ideas when writing. This includes Teaching time, where the teacher spends time ensuring that the students have enough pre-requisite knowledge needed for writing. Honestly,...

Welcome Colleagues 👪, As I engage you in another session of LIT 102 classes where Mrs. Lazarus held the session on The Writing Process. I could not help but look back on my life as a primary school student. Maybe teachers back then did not know the meaning of the word process.... sigh.😢Although I was not as fortunate in learning about it then, I am forever grateful for the opportunity to teach it now to my students. Pre-writing, Drafting, Revising, Proofreading, and Publishing are the steps involved in the writing process. What I love most about this process is that it takes time. Time that can assist students in providing their best work, which most likely may not have been from a one-shot writing. As Mrs. Lazarus explained the process, I could not help but have silly thoughts. The writing process could be like a bad relationship. wow! I believe I just used figurative language😀. In other words, if it is not working out, nothing is wrong in taking a break o...
