Hello Family,  💗

Welcome to another week of Blogging. As you realized, our lecturer continued with Narrative writing and  we were given the opportunity to sit with a colleague that we were comfortable with to share and also critique each others Narrative piece. How did you all feel about that?  As for me, I was a bit uncomfortable at first because I was not sure how my fellow colleague will react to my critiques. Turned out well as you guys can see because I am still here in one piece to blog. 😂 LOL....

As we are on Narrative writing, I want to ZOOM in on a particular aspect of this weeks session. The Author's chair. Mrs. Laz gave me the opportunity to read my piece. I must say that I am grateful for that opportunity because if I did not get it, I would have remained with my story thinking I will obtain a high score. Long story short, I was amazed of the strategy used to critique my story. I believe as teachers, we have to be mindful of our learners feelings.

How did you all feel about the strategy of the three stars, one wish? I must say I welcomed it, because I received positive feedbacks...by the way thanks for that 👍and ways I can improve on my writing. Again, back in my classroom I can use it with my students. They will be given positive feedbacks and also wishes that will assist them with their writing. The feedbacks I got, did not belittle me, instead it opened my eyes to new insights. Therefore, I can now go back to the drawing board, using the wishes mentioned to fix the loop holes in my writing.

  1. Hey, Narlz, can I just say that I envied you a bit that you got the chance to sit in the author's chair lol. I was grateful for the opportunity to share my writing with my colleague because it actually helped me. I had to go back to the drawing board to make a few changes that I am now content with. Oh and as for the three stars, one wish strategy, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will employ the use of this strategy in my classroom in the upcoming weeks. I really love how it steps away from positive and negative. I feel like this way students would feel less intimidated to come forward and share their writing with their classmates.

  2. Hi Narlyn,
I was happy you shared your story with the whole class. It was a great experience for you. As you received the feedback, you were able to make the necessary changes to your story. I like the 3 stars strategy. I am thinking about using this strategy in the class. I took special notes about how to use it. I hope you get to use it in your class so your students will get the same experiences as you.
