Welcome Colleagues 👪,

As I engage you in another session of LIT 102 classes where Mrs. Lazarus held the session on The Writing Process. I could not help but look back on my life as a primary school student. Maybe teachers back then did not know the meaning of the word process.... sigh.😢Although I was not as fortunate in learning about it then, I am forever grateful for the opportunity to teach it now to my students.   Pre-writing, Drafting, Revising, Proofreading, and Publishing are the steps involved in the writing process. What I love most about this process is that it takes time. Time that can assist students in providing their best work, which most likely may not have been from a one-shot writing. As Mrs. Lazarus explained the process, I could not help but have silly thoughts. The writing process could be like a bad relationship. wow! I believe I just used figurative language😀. In other words, if it is not working out, nothing is wrong in taking a break or starting from scratch. Interesting is it not?

The Writing Process can work for us as colleagues. Especially now as we are engaged in this writing course. Therefore, I urge every one of you to use it bearing in mind that it is ok to take time to cool off, leave the work alone, and get back to it. It is also ok to dispose of writing and start from scratch.

So remember colleagues, the next time you teach the writing process remember ........

P- Pre-writing- have your students choose a topic, explore it, and organize it.

D- Drafting- write a working draft

R- Revising- let them feel free to make changes to their work

P- Proofreading- allow them to correct their mistakes

           P- Publish- share with others

This is a book that explains The Writing Process in full detail. Feel free to check it out. I know I did.

  1. Hello Narlyn,
I also mentioned the writing process as the most significant concept I learned in my LIT102 class. You also said that you love that the writing process takes time. Why do you like that? I assume you do because it allows you to refine and enhance your writing constantly. I consider myself the opposite because I am not as enthused as you to do so. However, I am making more effort to revise my work continually.

  4. Hello Maurisa, most definitely. The Writing Process should be taught at an early age instead of at a latter stage. could you imagine what great writers we can produce when we nourish our students with this process at an early age? Glad you are using it, I know I am

    1. Yes, Frances, it is always better to start at a younger age so they will be great writers in the end.
