 Hello Family😍, 

Journey with me as I take us back to snippets of this week. I am filled with information because we did quite a lot, did we not? From Lesson Plans, to critiquing pieces to Persuasive writing. Although we did a lot, I want to remind you both about Persuasive writing. I chose Persuasive because we are about to write our piece to add to our portfolios. One may ask, '' what is Persuasive writing?'' In a nutshell, It is writing used to convince people.

Now in convincing people, we were reminded of techniques we can use to do so. For example, appealing to ones's emotions. Ladies, are we not masters in that area? especially when it comes to our relationships? hmmmm. When writing Persuasive, we must write with a purpose. Why do we want to convince? 

I remember writing persuasive pieces in school. Can you remember what it was like writing for you? As for me, I struggled in building my points, especially my supporting details. sometimes I wish I could go back in time and fix a lot of my writings, but knowing that it is impossible, I have decided to improve on my present writing. 

Keeping in mind the outline of a Persuasive piece. which consists of three main parts. The introductory paragraph, the body, and the conclusion. But wait....there's more. When writing a persuasive piece, one need to be mindful of the different formats this piece can take. For example, an essay, or an advertisement etc. And, just like any other genre of writing, one MUST revise.

    Hi Narlyn,
    I remember writing more advertisements. We also had to draw a diagram of what we were advertising. Persuasive writing is very tricky and has many formats. You have to appeal and engage the reader which can be hard at times. What I did was stick to my plan and use attracting phrases to keep the reader engaged.

      This is true Maury, i do remember writing advertisements whether it was to convince my classmates to buy the latest sneakers or buy the food in the tuck shop, lol. I also created a well detailed plan which made it easier for me to write, as frustrating it was i got it done and i am very satisfied with it.

    Good going Maurisa, I agree when you say it can be tricky. Appealing and engaging the readers can be difficult too but sticking to the plan is always the key when keeping the readers engaged.

      Narlz, I do not believe that you would have any trouble appealing readers. You do sure know how to prove a point lol. But I get where you are coming from, imagine KFC putting out an advertisement and the viewers get bored halfway in. Do you think that their sales will be good?

 My Fellow colleagues💗,  Tired of me yet? LOL. No worries because we are almost at the end of this course. In the meantime, let me remind us of our session this week. The Writing traits (cont'd). Mrs Lazarus spent a significant amount of time on this topic, did she not? As if she was reading our minds, she explained her reason why. We are presently critiquing a child's piece and we will need to be familiar with the writing traits in order to ace that piece. check out this poster, there are many more similar ones on the internet that we can use in our classrooms.  In addition to the writing traits, I loved the idea of Mrs. Lazarus having a class discussion/ critique of a sample. Then we paired with our assignment partner to discuss another one. I must say I embraced this activity because my partner and I were able to share many ideas together.  Welcome Colleagues 👪,  As I engage you in another session of LIT 102 classes where Mrs. Lazarus held the session on The Writing Process.  I could not help but look back on my life as a primary school student. Maybe teachers back then did not know the meaning of the word process.... sigh.😢Although I was not as fortunate in learning about it then, I am forever grateful for the opportunity to teach it now to my students.   Pre-writing, Drafting, Revising, Proofreading, and Publishing are the steps involved in the writing process. What I love most about this process is that it takes time. Time that can assist students in providing their best work, which most likely may not have been from a one-shot writing.
